MUTEK.JP 2026のオープニングを飾る「A/Visions 1」に登場するのは、イギリスを代表する電子音楽家Max Cooper。計算生物学の博士号を持つ異色のアーティストとして、音楽・科学・アートを横断する独自の表現で世界的な評価を得ている。

本公演では、最新の3D映像と立体音響を融合させた、没入型オーディオビジュアルライブを披露する。

ライブショーを見据えて制作された最新アルバム『Feeling Is Structure』を軸に、物理的な構造と感情の関係を探究。ミクロレベルでは精緻でありながら、聴く者の感情に深く訴えかける、進化し続けるサウンドの構造体と壮大な映像美を融合させた最新のパフォーマンスをお届けする。

音と映像、テクノロジーの新たな関係性を探究する、実験的なオーディオビジュアルライブにフォーカスしたプログラム「Play」。初日は、国内外から4組のアーティストが出演する。

元To Rococo Rotのメンバーとして知られる音楽家Robert Lippokと映像作家Lucas Gutierrezは、音楽とリアルタイム映像によるB2Bパフォーマンス『AVB2BVA』を披露。互いの音と映像をリアルタイムに交差させながら時間の流動性を探り、即興的かつ予測不可能な変化を生み出していく。

ベルリンを拠点に活動するオランダ系イタリア人コンポーザー、Aimée PortioliによるソロプロジェクトGrand Riverは、2026年秋にリリース予定の最新アルバム『Temporary』を軸にパフォーマンスを展開。ギターとシンセサイザーによるエレクトロ・アコースティックなサウンドに、Andrea Familariによるライティングデザインが加わり、音と光が交錯する空間をつくり上げる。

モントリオールを拠点とする電子音楽家／オーディオビジュアル・アーティストMathieu ArsenaultによるソロプロジェクトSeulementは、『Bricolage Architecture』を披露。ストップモーションアニメーションとライブ・モジュラーシンセシスを組み合わせ、デジタル技術では捉えきれない不完全さや、人間の身体が持つ独自の存在感にフォーカスしたAVパフォーマンスを展開する。

国内からは、Masayuki Azegami & Seiichi Segaが出演。来場者全員に3Dグラスを配布し、立体映像とリアルタイムに連動するサウンドを組み合わせた3D/AVライブを披露する。緻密に構築された音と映像の中に「間」や「余白」を立ち上げることで、現象そのものを観測するかのような体験を提示する。

Opening MUTEK.JP 2026 with “A/Visions 1” is Max Cooper, one of the UK’s leading electronic musicians. Holding a PhD in computational biology, Cooper has earned international acclaim for his distinctive practice spanning music, science, and art.

For this performance, Cooper will present an immersive audiovisual live show combining cutting-edge 3D visuals with spatial audio.

At the heart of the performance is his latest album, Feeling Is Structure, created with the live experience in mind. Exploring the relationship between physical structures and emotion, Cooper builds an ever-evolving architecture of sound—intricate at the microscopic level yet deeply resonant on an emotional level—combined with spectacular visual imagery in his latest audiovisual performance.

“Play” is a program dedicated to experimental audiovisual live performances that explore new relationships between sound, image, and technology. The opening night brings together four acts from Japan and around the world.

Musician Robert Lippok, known as a former member of To Rococo Rot, and visual artist Lucas Gutierrez present AVB2BVA, a B2B performance combining music and real-time visuals. By intersecting and responding to each other’s sound and imagery in real time, they explore the fluidity of time through an improvisational process of unpredictable transformation.

Grand River, the solo project of Berlin-based Dutch-Italian composer Aimée Portioli, presents a performance centered around her forthcoming album Temporary, scheduled for release in autumn 2026. Electro-acoustic sounds created with guitar and synthesizers are combined with lighting design by Andrea Familari, creating an environment where sound and light intersect.

Montreal-based electronic musician and audiovisual artist Mathieu Arsenault presents Bricolage Architecture under his solo project Seulement. Combining stop-motion animation with live modular synthesis, the performance focuses on imperfections that cannot be fully captured by digital technology and the unique physical presence of the human body.

Representing Japan, Masayuki Azegami & Seiichi Sega present a 3D/AV live performance in which every audience member is provided with 3D glasses. Stereoscopic imagery is combined with sound synchronized in real time, creating moments of ma—intervals and open spaces within meticulously constructed sound and visuals—and offering an experience akin to observing the phenomena themselves.
